This is a brief guide on how to set up Wireless@ SGx wifi on your Mac computer.
If you are wondering, Wireless@SGx is a service offered by IMDA's network of providers set up to give people in Singapore easy access to wifi.
In order to access this network, you will need to download an app onto your device once set up it will allow you to automatically connect to the Wireless@SGx wifi network.
Please do note that Wireless@SGx no longer authenticates you using your mobile sim card. As I tested this with my Singtel mobile sim card and it no longer works. So I need to download the mobile app from IMDA for it to work.
Prerequisites
- Access to the internet (you can consider creating a temporary wifi hotspot with your mobile if you are not in wifi)
- Mac
How to set up Wireless@SGx on your Mac computer
Step 1 - Download Wireless@SGx from the Apple App Store
Search and download the Wireless@SGx from the Apple App Store.
Step 2 - Launch Wireless@SGx app
Step 3 - Set up Wireless@SGx profile
Set up Wireless@SGx profile by clicking on Setup.
Fill in your details to confirm your identity for IMDA to validate on their system.
At the moment, you will need to make sure you are connected to the internet to be able to set this up. So please make sure you are connected to the internet.
Else you will receive an error "Error: An error has occured. Sorry there was a network error. Please check your connection and try again later. ".
