First of all, what is GrabTaxi?

GrabTaxi is taxi dispatch app for Singapore. It works just like Uber. 

The biggest difference with GrabTaxi compared to Uber is that the taxis available do not replace the normal taxis that you would often wave down on the street.

GrabTaxi basically acts as an automated smartphone based booking and dispatch platform for the taxis in Singapore. It connects travelers to drivers using mobile-based technology.  With this technology, GrabTaxi hopes to optimize the matching process between taxi fleets and passengers.

So now you know about what GrabTaxi is about, how do you use GrabTaxi in Singapore?

How to Use GrabTaxi in Singapore

Step 1 - Download the GrabTaxi app

Step 2 - Register your GrabTaxi app to your contact details

Register your GrabTaxi app to your local Singapore mobile number and email address. That way you drivers can call you when they are nearby. Especially if you are in a busy place where further guidance can help the driver to find you. The email address will be where your taxi receipts can be emailed to you after each journey.

Step 3 - Confirm your mobile number

Once you submit your details, a code will be sent to you by SMS. Enter it to register your number. Again, this is so drivers can contact you and find you (as needed).

Step 4 - Once you're ready, book a taxi

Once you're ready. 

• Enter your location, you will then be able to see many taxis around you. You can specify your source and destination so that the drivers have an idea of where you are and where you want to go. 
• Click Next

Step 5 - Select the time you'd like to be picked up

Select the time you'd like to be picked up.

Step 6 - Confirm booking when you're ready

Once you tap "Confirm Booking" give the app a few seconds to contact the drivers around you.

Step 7 - You'll receive a confirmation of your booking once a driver is found

When a driver accepts your booking, you will receive an email and SMS notification. You'll also see a confirmation on the app. You'll be able to also see how far and an estimation of how long the driver will take to arrive. Keep your eye on the map, which show you where the driver is using the GPS from your driver's car. 

You'll also have the option to call the driver from within the app to be sure he's coming.

If you made the booking by mistake, please cancel it as soon as possible. There is an option to do so in the app.

Step 8 - Driver arrives and will take you to your location

Driver arrives and will take you to your location. Just check the taxi's car plate number to make sure it matches with your booking. You can ask the driver directly as well by quoting your driver's name, as you will know your driver's name from your app. 

Step 9 - Enjoy your ride and rate the driver

If you're happy with the driver's services, do give the driver a rating and leave a nice comment. They'll like that.
